A figure skater's progress is measured by a series of tests which are governed by US Figure Skating (USFS). SCFSC conducts test sessions throughout the year, offering Skating Skills (Moves in the Field), Singles (Free Skate), Pattern Ice Dance and Solo Free Dance evaluations.
The tests establish levels of skating in each discipline for competitive purposes. All sanctioned competitions will group skaters of similar abilities to compete against each other. These abilities are proven by passing the official USFS tests, taken either in person in front of judge panel at designated test sessions or through a virtual test session..
Many skaters participate in testing and competitive skating, both challenging and enjoyable aspects of the sport.
The test sessions hosted by SCFSC allow a skater to test their skating achievements in a positive and friendly atmosphere.
At this time, SCFSC will be hosting only virtual test sessions. Registration for virtual test sessions will run from the 15th of one month through the 1st of the next month. Then, tests recorded between the 1st and the 14th will be submitted for a virtual test session scheduled on the 15th. This schedule will repeat each month throughout the year, resulting in 12 virtual test sessions annually at SCFSC.
SCFSC will also plan hold two partner virtual dance tests per year, depending on interest and availability of partners.

Please read all testing information thoroughly. USFSA has recently updated the requirements for virtual test submissions, and SCFSC will adhere to all USFSA guidelines.
Beginning in January 2025, St. Cloud Figure Skating Club hosts virtual test sessions on the 15th of each month. Registration for the monthly test session occurs from the 15th of the previous month through the 1st of the test session month. Registration for our January 15th test session will run December 15th, 2024 through January 1, 2025.
Virtual tests must be recorded 14 days or less before submission. This means after registering by the 1st for the scheduled virtual test session that will occur on the 15th of each month, you will have the 1st through the 14th (at midnight) or the test session month to record your virtual test. Once you have a satisfactory test recorded you can submit it to SCFSC Test Chair(s) before midnight on the 14th. As long as a skater has completed the registration for the virtual test session and submitted a recorded test before the 14th at midnight, their tests will be submitted by SCFSC for the virtual test session scheduled on the 15th. This procedure will repeat each month throughout the year, which means SCFSC will host 12 virtual test sessions annually.
As of November 21, 2024 - all virtual tests submitted to USFSA must include a test placard with the following information:
SKATER NAME:
TEST TAKEN:
HOST CLUB: (St Cloud FSC)
DATE OF TEST: (Date of test session, NOT date of recording. For SCFSC-hosted tests, this date should always be the 15th of the month unless we specifically inform otherwise)
The above information can be written on the USFSA provided test placard document which is available in pdf format below; or, you can write this exact information on a blank sheet of paper or dry-erase whiteboard.
Please note: in addition to the placard, the requirement to show the date and time on a mobile device or rink clock is still active. The placard does not replace this requirement. Both must be visible at the beginning of your test recording.
More information about testing is available on USFSA's website.
No recorded tests will be accepted for skaters who did not register for the virtual test session. No late registrations are accepted. No recorded tests will be accepted after the 14th of the month at midnight. No refunds or carryovers will be given for submitted tests for any reason. If a skater registers for a test session and for some reason is unable to submit a recorded test between the 1st and the 14th of the test month, SCFSC will not issue a refund, but will consider carrying the registration payment over to the following month.
